ಪವಿತ್ರ ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನೋದಯ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ, ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆತ್ಮಗಳು, ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಜೀವಿಗಳು, ಪರಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ದೇವರಾದ ಕೃಷ್ಣನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆನಂದಿಸಲು ಅರ್ಹರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಸ್ವಭಾವವು ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥದಿಂದ ಕಲುಷಿತಗೊಂಡಾಗ, ನಾವು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ.

ಸುಬ್ರಮಣಿಯನ್ ಗೋಪಾಲಸಾಮಿ ಅವರು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಕಲಾವಿದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು. ಹಿಂದಿನ ಒಂದು ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶವು ಅವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಹೊಸ ಆಯಾಮವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದಿತು. ಕಲೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ, ಅವರು ಏಕತೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಂಡರು, ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದರು, ಹೊಸ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಐಹಿಕ ಸಮತಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಲ್ಲದ ಜಾಗೃತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ.

ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ (ಅವರು ಕಲಾ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ) ಒಬ್ಬ ಕಲಾವಿದರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅವರು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಕಾಲೀನವಾದ ಕೆಲವು ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನಾ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಕಸನಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ಹಲವಾರು ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವಸ್ತು ಕಾಳಜಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೆಲವು ಆದ್ಯತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಅವರು ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಅಂತಹ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳು ರಹಸ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಆವಿಷ್ಕಾರಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಮಧ್ಯಂತರವಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಅದು ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕವಾದವು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನೊಳಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಹ್ಯ ಅಥವಾ ಗಣನೀಯ ವಾಸ್ತವತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಾಗದದ ಕೊಲಾಜ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಕೆಲಸವು ನಾವು ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿವಿಧ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ವಿವಿಧ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗೆ ಮೀರಿದ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರು ರಚಿಸುವ ಮಾನವ ರೂಪಗಳು ಕೊಲಾಜ್ ಮೂಲಕ ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವರುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೈವಿಕ ಸಂಪರ್ಕವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಒಂದಲ್ಲ ಒಂದು ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ನಿರಂತರ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದ ಮೂಲಕ, ಸಮಾಜವು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತುಂಗಕ್ಕೇರುವ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಿವಿಧ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಪೇಪರ್, ದೃಶ್ಯ ಚಿತ್ರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸುದ್ದಿಯೋಗ್ಯ ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುವ ಅವರ ಚಾಲ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದಿಂದ ಸರಣಿಯನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತೋರುತ್ತಿದೆ. ತಾರ್ಕಿಕ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುವ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳು ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ನೇರ ಮತ್ತು ಹಠಾತ್ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಅವರ ಕೃತಿಗಳು ಭಾವನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತಃಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ವೀಕ್ಷಕರು ಫಲಿತಾಂಶದ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸೋಣ.

ಹೂವಿನ ಸೊಬಗು, ಮಗುವಿನ ಮುಗ್ಧತೆ, ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕಾಂತಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಔದಾರ್ಯ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡದ ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯ, ಆಕಾಶದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ, ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡದ ವೈಶಾಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಅವರ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆಯು ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದೆ. .

ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಅವರ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಯು ನಮಗೆ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ಕೇಳುವ ದೈವಿಕ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ವೈಭವದಲ್ಲಿ, ಮಾನವ ಜೀವನದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ತ್ಯಾಗದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದೈವಿಕ ಸಂದೇಶದ ಗುಪ್ತ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಸೇವಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಈ ಉಡುಗೊರೆಗಳ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ.

ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಅವರು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯು ದೇವರ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರಿಯಾತ್ಮಕ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯವಹರಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದೊಂದಿಗಿನ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಅವರ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಯು ಸ್ವತಃ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯಾಗಿದೆ, ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟು ದೇವಾಲಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೀಕ್ಷಕನು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಭವಿಸಲು ಅಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಸುಬ್ರಾಸ್ ಅವರು ಆಳವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಉದಾರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ. 9 ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 2022 ರಿಂದ 23 ಜನವರಿ 2023 ರವರೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕಿಂಕಿನಿ ಆರ್ಟ್ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಅದ್ಭುತ ರೆಟ್ರೋಸ್ಪೆಕ್ಟಿವ್ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆಯಲು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಲು ನಾನು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ವಿಶೇಷತೆ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Subramanian Gopalsamy is one of the eminent artists based in Bengaluru. An emotional context in the past brought him to a point where he could see and experience a new dimension of his life. Through art, he developed a vision of oneness, became filled with love, with a new vision and awareness that was not ordinary to earthly plane. 

Subras (as he is fondly known in the art circle) is an artist who travelled several artistic experiments to evolve and build a legacy of some conceptual idea that is both traditional and contemporary.  His concepts or ideas involves some precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns. They highlight a distinct approach to the fundamental doctrine question, which tells us that such experimental concepts are intermediate between mystery and discovery that says universals exist only within the mind and have no external or substantial reality. 

Subras usually works on paper collage. His work speaks to the time we live in. The human forms that he creates using unimaginable pictures of various objects from various magazines render a divine connection with Hindu Gods through the collage. Through his continuous practice in one form or another, Subras is successful in creating a narration that tends to peak during times when society is trying to figure itself out. Looks like the series is developed out of his ongoing habit of reading various daily paper, visual imagery and newsworthy articles. His efforts to create logical narratives thereby responding to the images in a very direct and impulsive way. His works are more about emotion and intuition but let’s his viewers create their own narratives from the resulting images. 

Subras’s visual composition is full of artistic aesthetics that has the beauty of a flower, innocence of a child, radiance of the sun, generosity of the earth, harmony of the universe, beauty of the heavens, intelligence of man and the vastness of the universe. 

Subras’s work of art reminds of the divine message asking us to give. We feel the hidden presence of this divine message in the splendour of nature, in the beauty of human life, and in acts of personal sacrifice. But we are so often consumed by our daily lives that we lose sight of the significance of these gifts.

Subras loves to work on Indian spiritual subjects and his visual language depicts that sacred and dynamic presence of God, and the relationship with the world in which you live and deal. Subras’s work of art is a vision and understanding in itself wherein the entire frame becomes a temple and the viewer sees countless opportunities to connect and feel the presence and being blessed.

Subras is generous personality with in-depth knowledge and skills. I, personally deem it as my privilege to write and present about this brilliant Retrospective show that is going on in Kynkyny Art Gallery, Bangalore from 9 December 2022 to 23 January 2023
